Are your apples or fruit trees attracting bears to your yard?
Apples attract bears to your neighborhood. Consider whether you should prune your tree to produce less fruit in the next season or remove the tree altogether.
Choose from the options below if you have more fruit than you can use. 1. Donate picked apples to the Northern Lights Estate Winery. Good apples are used for wine, and all non-mushy, non-rotten apples are for livestock until the end of the season. Apples used for wine generate a donation to fund the Northern Bear Awareness Society! 2. Everyone at the Table, along with other partners, has started a Gleaning Abundance Program, where volunteers will pick unwanted fruit and process it to share it with community food distribution organizations. 3. Non-mushy, non-rotten apples packed in sturdy boxes with secure lids can be dropped off at Bandstra Transportation at 9499 Milwaukee Way, to be delivered to the Northern Lights Wildlife Society for animals in rehabilitation. Update, August 2023: NLWS has received more apples than they can handle! Please choose another option for your apples. 4. Bring your apples to Hobby Brews to make your own wine or cider! 5. Post in the Prince George Fruit Exchange on Facebook to connect with people who would like to pick and use your unwanted fruit. |
